Well, here's a sad map of where I've been in the US. Too bad I can't count Canada! Even though it was only the cornfields outside Montreal. Sad, but true. I really need to get out more! Ooo, also the Caribbean. And Paris. Twice. One day hubby and I will get that Airstream and trailer our way across America! One day....

In other news, today is D-day. Yes. The dreaded last day of Vacation. It's time to go back to work and truthfully, I'm not ready. No. I'm not ready. sigh Today I must have a marathon cleaning session with hubby so that I can go back to work tomorrow with a clear head. Hmmm. He goes back tomorrow, too. Also, I'd like to get back to 7 day meal planning if possible. That will also make me happy! Signing off to do housework. Blech.

Happy Labor Day Weekend!

So I've been feeling bad these past few days. Like I ran a marathon with no training, and have jelly legs, but that's ok, cuz i read Charlaine Harris' Dead and Undermined and am starting on the Nightwalkers series by Jacquelyn Frank. It was my BFF's bday and I tried real hard to find Apple Pie Moonshine for her, but it seems like I'll have to go to Astor Wines to get it. Oh well. Also we're trying a new Sunday knitting group. For losers who have no where to go on Labor Day Weekend. (raises hand). I hope I like it. It's close to my house and at a time when I'm normally not doing much. I think I'm going to make liquor for Christmas. I have visions of apple pie moonshine, pomegranate cocktail with a hint of exotic spice, cranberry "sauce" which might end up fortified with port wine and spices. The list is endless. Also on my holiday buying list, maple bitters. Hope everyone is eating pork and happy :D

It's Saturday!

So, it's Saturday, but that doesn't really matter because I'm still on Vacation :D All the days are running into each other. Decided to return some library books, yeah me! Also picked up some cocktail books on reserve and a few H.G.Wells books for some light summer reading action. Not that I'm tiring of paranormal romance, hell sex and vampires is awesome, but after watching Warehouse 13 for a while, I realized I never read H.G.Wells books as a youth, and well, it just seems like something I should do. I also picked up a cool book about fortune cookies called ,The Fortune Cookie Chronicles by Jennifer 8. Lee. It's pretty interesting, and it's also a nice departure from grouchy supernatural boy meets girl, girl falls in love with grouchy supernatural boy, boy finally falls in love with girl but can't be with her, boy and girl fight against all odds to be together and live happily ever after.

Happy Birthday Brunch

Happy Birthday to me, (cha, cha, cha...) I'm having brunch today to celebrate my birthday, but the weather is soooo not cooperating. On the menu is St. Germain cocktail amended with violet liquor, French Toast with sausages, bacon and apricots, and potato boats with creamy scrambled eggs and an assortment of toppings: sour cream, cheese, scallions, caviar, and bacon bits. Looking forward to 11:00. Hope it goes well...

Well brunch was a smashing success. Everyone liked the new decor and appreciated how much hard work went into it. St. Germain was a hit, like I didn't know :D, and I made G & T's for everyone with the New Amsterdam Gin and those were also a hit. I think I found some "new gin" converts. These people will prolly love Aviations whenever I get around to buying some Maraschino liquor. We all love sweet stuff. Eventually I'll have to clean the kitchen, but not worrying about that. Off to bathe and read my new book, "The Discovery of Witches." I have a bunch of cocktail books arriving next week at the library and look forward to planning some hard-core cocktails parties. The dollar store had some mini cocktail glass gel candles for a dollar each and I pretty much bought them out so I can make mini-cocktail tasting flights. The candles that were actually clear look cute when burning, too for some ambiance. They have silver glitter in them and awesomely match the yellow/silver/teal/white color scheme I have going in the living room. Signing off. Vacation soon....hooray!!!

Happy Belated New Year!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well, it's almost exactly a year since my last blog post. Many things have happened over the last 350+ days since I last checked in. Suffice to say, I'm in a better place now. My apartment looks better than ever after starting my latest hobby-interior decorating. Pics will follow and maybe a tutorial. The kitchen and living room are freshly painted, and life is going on after being stalled for a while. This leads me to my latest, latest hobby...drinking. Yes, I must drink more. One drink every 3 months or so just isn't enough. Must...drink...more. In order to facilitate my new habit, I've decided to start a home bar. I never drink anymore because I'm always driving. My dad will help me build a liquor cabinet and I've been snatching up weird liquors every week in anticipation of the back-to-school September cocktail party. So far my stock includes:

Weird Polish Vodka
Wild Turkey Honey Bourbon
Jim Beam Bourbon
Philadelphia Whiskey
New Amsterdam Gin
Three Olives Chocolate Vodka
Bacardi 151
Rothman and Winter Creme de Violette
Mozart Chocolate Liquor
St. Germain Elderflower Liquor
Homemade Rose Liquor
Homemade Orange Liquor

Angostura Bitters
Orange Spice Bitters

Well, that's all for now. I'm hoping to add Luxardo Maraschino, Brandy, Creme de Cacao dark and light, and Creme de Noyaux, and Creme de Menthe for some Pink Squirrel, Grasshopper and Brandy Alexander action!
